A well-informed client makes a better decision. These guides explain what makes each category exceptional โ in plain language, without the jargon.
Lab-grown diamonds are not simulants, imitations, or substitutes. They are real diamonds โ created in a controlled environment using the same carbon crystallisation process that occurs in nature. Chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds.
The two growth methods โ HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) and CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) โ each produce stones with distinct characteristics. CVD diamonds tend to grow larger and with fewer strain patterns; HPHT stones are often preferred for their nitrogen-free purity.

What sets them apart from mined stones is their exceptional clarity. Natural emeralds are famous for their inclusions (called "jardin"). Recrystallized stones offer the same vivid green โ often more saturated โ with a level of clarity rarely seen in their mined counterparts.
Read MoreParaiba tourmalines are known for their extraordinary neon-blue to electric-teal colour, produced by copper and manganese within the tourmaline crystal structure. Natural paraibas from Brazil are among the most expensive gemstones per carat โ rarer than diamonds at similar quality levels.
Laboratory paraibas share the same copper-bearing composition. The colour mechanism is identical, which means the visual result โ that unmistakable electric glow โ is the same. What differs is the scarcity premium, which in nature is geological, not qualitative.
Read MoreChoosing a gemstone is not just about specifications โ it is about what the stone means to you and how it will be used. A stone for a ring that will be worn daily requires different priorities than a stone for a collector or an investment buyer.
Start with category and colour, then refine by size, then by clarity and cut. For diamonds, the classic 4 Cs apply; for coloured stones, saturation and tone take precedence over clarity. Our specialists can walk you through every step.
